Additively Manufactured Iron‐Based Bulk Metallic Glass Composite Electrocatalysts: Effect of Microstructural States on the Oxygen Evolution Reaction Activity

The influence of crystallinity on the electrocatalytic activity complex alloys requires further clarification to optimize their properties. In this work, properties additively manufactured Fe-based bulk metallic glasses (BMG), namely, toward oxygen evolution reaction are studied in alkaline media. Laser powder bed fusion (PBF-LB/M) is applied fabricate electrodes with different numbers glass-forming Fe75Mo14.3Ni1.6P6C2.2B1 layers 316L stainless steel substrates. Electrochemical and physicochemical characterization techniques used characterize surface both as-built after annealing devitrification. Although process parameters lead similar electrochemical responses, certain differences observable. Namely, thickness BMG-coating ratio crystalline/amorphous phases seems determine catalytic activity. particular, it noticeable that partially crystallized samples display higher activities, contrary some previous observations materials. measurements indicate a interplay between active area determines investigated electrode material.
